My Project
I teach students in kindergarten through 5th grade in our school’s new moderate/cognitive (mod/cog) special education program. My students have diverse sensory and emotional needs, and many struggle with self-regulation and focus. To help them succeed, I’m working to create a sensory-supportive classroom environment where they feel calm, safe, and ready to learn.
I love my students deeply.
They are curious, resilient, and full of potential. Each day, they teach me the true meaning of patience, perseverance, and joy. They deserve every opportunity to feel successful, supported, and proud of who they are.
I’m requesting specific sensory tools that support different sensory systems:
The sensory swing, bouncy board, and peanut ball will support vestibular and proprioceptive input to help with movement, balance, and body awareness.
Peanut ball (textured), sensory noodles engage the tactile system to support focus and reduce anxiety.
The sensory light table and bubble lamp provide calming visual input for students who benefit from light-based sensory regulation. The mirror supports self-help routines like tooth brushing, a key life skill we practice daily.
These tools will create a calming space where students can self-regulate, improving their emotional well-being and learning readiness. Thank you for helping build an inclusive, supportive classroom for students with disabilities.
