Due to moving to Middle School, I was able to bless my previous school with many of these items! When shipping they had a few items that were unavailable, so I was able to switch those items out with things my current classroom needed! So, with your donates you were able to help two schools!\r\n\r\nThe items I sent to the elementary school include the sensory noodles, which will be such a great tool. Many of my previous students had oral fixations and would put items in their mouths that could potentially harm them. These will give the teacher the option to clean and serialize them, but also still give them the visual, tactile and proprioceptive sensory inputs that they need.\r\n\r\nThe peanut ball was for my students needing deep pressure, with tactile and proprioceptive sensory inputs. Many students needed tight squeezes or weighted blankets. Just like the blanket, this tool will allow the student to independently give themselves that input. With that same reasoning, the bounce board will give them the proprioceptive and vestibular stimulation and also can serve as a tool for emotional regulation. \r\n\r\nLastly, the mirror will be used so the students can visually see what they are doing. In the elementary classroom, we can use this mirror to show them what emotions look like and help with their self-perception. They can see themselves when they are taught to brush their teeth. I can not wait to hear how my previous students have enjoyed these items!\r\n\r\nThe other items that I was able to use in my current middle school classroom included a sensory lamp that has water and fake fish. This has been a tool every student goes to when they come into my classroom. They love to put their finger over the top hole and watch what happens. When they do this, the fish start floating to the top, because it stops the bubbles.\r\n\r\nI also used the extra funds from the unavailable items to purchase a wobble chair. This has recently been delivered and has been used during every class period I have. During the first week of school I observed many students trying to rock in their chairs. The desk/chair sets we have do not budge and so all we hear is the student hitting the desk near them and squeaking. Many students would ask them to stop because they could not focus, but I know the students that are rocking are needing that input for self-regulation. Having this stool has helped all my students focus and engage in their tasks.\r\n\r\nLastly, I received fidget toys. These have been in great use, many students already know they can grab a fidget and go back to their desk. This helps them with focus but also gives them that sensory input that they need. Your donations have and will continue to benefit the students in both settings. Students are also able to pick out their own books and have them read to them while they follow along in a printed version. This truly would not have possible had they not had all of the necessary tools that you have assisted me in providing for them! \r\n\r\nI also have a large group of over 35 students who have began their musical journey in my classroom. Before you donations they were struggling to make sounds on their instruments, due to the lack of resources, but they blamed it on their own skills. Since your donations those students have truly continued to flourish, and now are making beautiful music, and are so excited to continue their musical journey! \r\n\r\nI appreciate the supply you have provided us with, as there have already been 1-2 rosin cakes that have been fully used, and we have plenty to follow!
