My Project

Our unique inclusion model means that students with special needs (i.e. neurodivergence) are integrated into our class with general education students. This is an ideal model of learning, in which children learn about their similarities, differences and how to treat each other with dignity and humanity. Equity is about access, which we create in this model so that everyone in our community benefits from mutual growth and learning.

Sensory play is imperative for preschoolers' cognitive, fine motor, and social skill development.

As children explore water, sand, beans, rice, baking soda and vinegar, cornstarch, shaving cream, etc. a foundation is set for their development as scientists. At the sensory table children explore the properties of various materials. They develop and test theories there, often building vocabulary with classmates and teachers as they explore. Of course, they must also do lots of turn taking and sharing, where they are highly motivated to build these social skills. Students with high sensory seeking needs, find amazing regulation and concentration at the sensory table.

A high quality sensory table will ensure that this type of learning is accessible to all of our students, for all the years to come!
