My Students
Do you remember when you were in pre-k? I work at a Title One school in the state of North Dakota and provide Special Education services to three and four year old students. Currently, one hundred percent of my student population is Native American. Every one of my students have different learning, social, emotional, and behavioral needs. These energetic students have bright minds and attempt to understand Miss Alix's love for learning! They are all very curious about their surroundings. It is such a joy to observe my students and how they interact with the world around them! They absolutely love hands-on and engaging activities that allow them to think outside the box.
They are all ready to bloom and develop their growing minds!
All of my students have various sensory needs. Half of them are in-person and have receive services virtually. It is difficult for all parties involved, but my students try their best to participate and stay focused! This is the first time my students begin to attend school and it can be scary for them. I try my best to come up with fun and engaging activities for them, as well as to create a learning environment where they feel safe.
My Project
As a Pre-K Special Education teacher, I do my best to incorporate sensory breaks into every intervention as they are young and need tools to help them focus. A few of my students are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and they require sensory integration while they receive their interventions. In order to help all my students focus and get their sensory needs met, I want to provide them with various tools to meet their individual needs. Bringing more sensory aids into my classroom will allow me to provide a variety of options for my students. In return, I can receive more engagement and interactions from my students. Help me present my students with more options to best meet their needs!
