Having high-quality novels at their fingertips has strengthened their reading stamina, comprehension, vocabulary, and overall confidence as readers.\r\n\r\nStudents are now able to experience stories that spark deeper thinking, inspire questions, and encourage them to make text-to-self and text-to-world connections. The excitement they show when we begin a new chapter, pause for discussion, or predict what will come next has been truly inspiring.\r\n\r\nBecause of the books provided through this project, I was able to build structured routines around whole-group read-alouds, guided discussions, and summarization practice, all aligned to 5th grade ELA standards. These novels allow us to practice essential skills such as: identifying theme and character motivations, summarizing chapter events, analyzing vocabulary in context, supporting opinions with evidence and making predictions and inferences. \r\n\r\nFor time efficiency, and to ensure all students, regardless of reading level, could access the same rich text, I incorporated the books into a whole-group read-aloud routine. This has helped create unity and shared excitement, while also modeling fluent reading and comprehension strategies.\r\n\r\nThe books have also become an important tool during independent reading and partner practice. Students now have a strong foundation to write better summaries, answer deeper questions, and talk about literature with more confidence.\r\n\r\nNote: We are currently doing a teacher read aloud for the book, \"Holes.\" My students are able to incorporate science/social studies from geography and ecosystems (habitat).","fullyFundedDate":1758824265833,"projectUrl":"project/sweet-summaries/9716290/","projectTitle":"Sweet Summaries","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. K","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7174002_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758377893106","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/iheartthird"},{"teacherId":7174002,"projectId":9680375,"letterContent":"Thanks to the generosity all Donors Choose supporters, our classroom received an Infinity Game Table, and the impact has been nothing short of amazing. This resource has quickly become one of my students' absolute favorite learning tools and gathering spots in our room.\r\n\r\nFrom the moment it arrived, the table transformed the way my 5th graders engage with learning. During math centers, students use strategy games and puzzles that build logic, number sense, and cooperation. During reading rotations, it becomes a hub for word games that strengthen vocabulary, comprehension, and teamwork, without students even realizing how much academic practice they're getting. Even during Tier II intervention time, the table offers meaningful, hands-on activities that keep students motivated, focused, and excited to learn.\r\n\r\nOne of the biggest differences I have seen is how the table supports classroom community. Whether it's indoor recess or free-choice time, students gather around it, collaborate, laugh, and problem-solve together. It has become a safe, fun, and engaging space where every student, no matter their ability level, can participate and feel included.\r\n\r\nThe Infinity Game Table has brought joy, engagement, and purpose into our daily routine. It's helping my students become stronger critical thinkers, better communicators, and more confident learners. Most importantly, it has created moments of happiness in our classroom that they will remember long after 5th grade.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, my students don't just have a new tool - they have a new favorite place to learn, explore, and connect.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our classroom, for choosing my kids, and for making such a lasting impact.\r\n\r\n— Ms. Kom & her 5th graders","fullyFundedDate":1757695739471,"projectUrl":"project/buzzing-into-learning-game-show-fun-and/9680375/","projectTitle":"Buzzing Into Learning: Game Show Fun and a Clean Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. K","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7174002_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758377893106","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/iheartthird"},{"teacherId":7174002,"projectId":9266178,"letterContent":"We are so grateful for your generosity in helping us bring the Infinity Game Board into our classroom!
