Hello! Thank you for considering helping out my classroom. This project will help my students to become more independent in their learning through sensory supports, independent living skills development and flexible seating options like stools.
Many of my students require sensory supports within the classroom and this project will provide more options for my students.
These items include sensory items such as fidgets, balls, and a bookshelf to keep these items organized for students. This area will also include noise-canceling headphones and headphones for listening to music. The bookshelf will serve as part of our sensory corner/area. My goal is for students to have an area in the classroom where they can access a wider variety of sensory items.
In addition to sensory items, flexible seating is important for my students. Two items that I am wishing for are stools and a rocking chair. These will allow students to have seating options which can help regulate them and therefore prepare them for learning.
In addition to sensory supports, Independent Living Skills is a large part of our curriculum. This includes household chores (Clorox wipes and broom set), hygiene, cooking, and more. These items will help support students in this part of the curriculum.
My students are caring, kind and wonderfully unique. They are working towards independence across many areas and these items will help them achieve their goals.
