My Project
This project will help give my students the sensory supports needed in order to fully participate in their learning. The support levels for my students vary from child to child. Some of my students are verbal, while others are non-verbal. Some are high-functioning, while others are lower-functioning. Some are more independent, while others require hand over hand assistance for most tasks. However, they ALL have sensory needs that I am constantly trying to meet by finding new and exciting items for their classroom.
While my students are all beautifully unique, they all share one similarity: the need for sensory input/stimuli to help them be successful.
They require different academic support, behavior management support, and communication support. To enhance their overall learning, my students require individualized sensory diets. The sensory trays, toys and manipulatives will allow my students to explore items in a new, hands-on way while working on skill sets such as fine motor, social skills, academics, language and so much more!
