This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My second grade ESE students are motivated to learn and express themselves, but they are in need of some items to help them to be successful in the classroom. My students are in need of a cozy area in the classroom with some sensory tools that can be a safe space for calming down and processing their feelings and refocus, as well as flexible seating and educational tools.

To help with flexible seating so that they can sit in different areas around the classroom and stay on task while working, I am requesting some lightweight stools and marble maze fidget mats.

These items will help with managing sensory input and concentration during whole group learning. The positive grading stamps and countdown timer will be used for completing assignments.

The emotional management posters, sensory floor mat, and stress balls will be used in the cozy area for individual breaks throughout the day when students would like a moment to check in on their emotions and need sensory support. The different sized pouched are need to replace the previous individual pouches the students have that contain their personal fidget items in the cozy corner.

This project will allow students to take control of their learning environment by providing them with choices that will support their individual sensory needs. This will then lead to an increase in classroom participation, focus, and an environment that is safe and full of learning.
