My Project
My eighth graders love debate and primary‑source sleuthing, but many have ADHD or autism, and many more battle distractibility. Even sitting or tuning out noise can feel impossible in a room of hard chairs and buzzing lights.
A sensory‑safe makeover will give every learner a tool that matches their brain and body.
A birch storage bench doubles as a reading perch and hides yoga cards and fidgets. Tennis‑ball gliders hush every desk scrape. Studico wobble stools let restless legs move without leaving the lesson. A 60‑pack of fidgets offers discreet self‑regulation for lectures. A light‑up “Breathing Owl,” visual schedule cards, and an ADHD skills workbook teach mindfulness and planning. Yoga‑pose cards and wooden mannequins add quick stretch breaks and hands‑on modeling for history discussions.
Quieter furniture cuts stress spikes; movement tools channel energy into learning instead of hallway walks. Visual cues and the breathing light shorten transitions and build self‑calming habits. Workbooks turn advisory into practice on goal‑setting and emotional control.
