Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are in need of sensory resources for both educational and recreational purposes. The magnetic alphabet board would be a great tool for all my students. Each one is working on their fine motor skills, such as writing numbers and letters. The magnet would guide their movements while tracing to ultimately enable them to write independently. Additionally, the sand tray with flash card set would be another important resource for my class. Since all my students have special needs, they are constantly seeking sensory stimulation. With the sand board, we could learn while they met that need to increase efficiency, engagement and overall productivity! The noun flash cards are also necessary to help my students expand their knowledge by identifying pictures within different categories. In addition to the flash cards, I would also like to request a social skills workbook for my students. All of my students are not fully integrated in their general education classrooms due to different sporadic behaviors. They are all currently working on learning social skills such as sitting quietly at their desks to perform their required tasks, unpacking and packing up for the day, personal space, etc. The last two items I am requesting are a texture tile set and pop-up toy. Both are great sensory items that can be used as for both recreational and stimulating purposes.
