This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a teacher in a program for students with autism, sensory needs are always something we have to be cognizant of meeting. Unfortunately, that means a lot of money out of my pocket as a teacher since most district funds are not earmarked for funding sensory materials. Our students require additional visual, auditory, and tactile sensory supports, which is what this project aims to address.

With the items in this project, students will receive tools to help them self-regulate their emotions and achieve sensory input not normally available in a traditional classroom, such as a sensory bubble wall.

Materials in this project also include visually appealing items for academics, such as the classroom clock and large visual schedules, to help engage students' sensory needs while teaching valuable life skills.
