This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In our K–2 autism classroom, every child is a sensory superstar—learning, growing, and exploring the world in their own unique way. Our students are bright, curious, and full of energy, but they often face challenges with sensory regulation that can make learning difficult. That’s why we’re asking for sensory tools that will help them feel calm, focused, and ready to learn.

We’re requesting slime, sensory sand, sensory bottles, and Play-Doh to create a sensory-rich environment that supports emotional regulation and hands-on learning.

These tools will be used during transitions, calming breaks, and structured play to help students manage big feelings and stay engaged.

Slime and sensory sand provide soothing tactile input that helps reduce anxiety and improve focus. Slime and sensory sand provide soothing tactile input that helps reduce anxiety and improve focus. Sensory bottles offer calming visual stimulation and are perfect for quiet moments when students need to reset. Play-Doh encourages creativity while strengthening fine motor skills and offering a safe outlet for sensory exploration.

These materials will be integrated into daily routines, helping students build self-regulation skills, express emotions, and participate more fully in classroom activities. For many of our learners, sensory play isn’t just fun—it’s essential.
