Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am creating a sensory center in my special needs classroom to better support my amazing students, who thrive with hands-on, sensory-based learning. Many of them face challenges with sensory processing, attention, or emotional regulation, and tools like sensory bins, fidgets, weighted items, and calming lights will help meet their individual needs. These resources will give students a safe space to calm their bodies, refocus their minds, and be ready to learn.
My goal is to create a classroom environment where every student feels supported, understood, and able to succeed.
This sensory center will promote self-regulation, reduce anxiety, and increase engagement and independence. My students are incredibly special—they are resilient, curious, and full of potential. With your support, I can give them the tools they need to thrive both academically and emotionally.
