This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I absolutely love my students' curiosity, resilience, and unique ways of learning. Each of them brings their own strengths, personalities, and challenges, and I want to create a sensory-friendly space where they feel comfortable, engaged, and ready to learn. Many of my students benefit from hands-on, multisensory experiences to help them focus, regulate emotions, and build foundational academic and communication skills.
The sensory items I’m requesting, such as weighted lap pads, fidget tools, pop-it boards, tactile letters, and noise-canceling headphones, will provide the support they need to stay engaged in learning.
These resources will help students develop fine motor skills, improve focus, and build confidence in reading, writing, and math. For example, tactile letters and pop-it boards will reinforce letter recognition and early literacy skills in a way that is fun and accessible. Weighted lap pads and fidget tools will help students self-regulate so they can participate more effectively in classroom activities.
My goal for this project is to create a calming, interactive sensory center that meets my students' diverse needs and helps them thrive academically and emotionally. My students are incredibly special because they learn in unique ways, and with the right tools, they can achieve amazing things.
