Help me give my students mini trampolines, sensory balls and rollers, fidget toys, chew necklaces, water beads and sensory bin kits, and scented dot markers to enhance their sensory needs in my preschool classroom.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My Head Start students come from the inner-city and do not have as many advantages as students from other areas. As a teacher, it is my responsibility to make sure they have what they need to learn and succeed in school and in the world. I teach at a Title I school in Nebraska, which means that 93% of the students receive free breakfast and lunch.
My students are amazing, and I am proud to be their teacher!
They come to school eager to learn and are curious about the world around them. My school is a safe place for them, a place for them to be nurtured, loved, and prepared for the future.
My Project
My goal as a teacher is to make sure that each student is successful and confident enough to move on to their next year of school. I just attended a workshop on sensory processing disorders and realized that so many of my students may have certain sensory needs that are not being met in my classroom. There are so many behaviors of children that can be explained by their various sensory needs.
With these mini trampolines, sensory balls and rollers, fidget toys, chew necklaces, water beads, and other resources, I am hoping to be able to meet the sensory needs of my students.
I want to provide an individualized learning experience to each one to ensure success.
