My Project
Middle school can be a lot, overwhelming if you are neurodiverse or struggling with anxiety. My special education resource room would benefit from a calm down corner, where my students can reset and refocus.
Some flexible seating, a sensory bin of items to explore, and some cool weighted critters, will provide my students with a space to utilize calming strategies and advocate for what they need to be successful.
These are tools that will help my students when they need a break.
My students can do amazing things, but sometimes they need a little extra support to reset and refocus. Having items that look cool and interesting, like weighted frogs and lizards, as well as a bin of calming fidgets will create a great space for my students. It will provide a calming space and blend seamlessly into my special education resource room. Aesthetics, but most importantly function —what teenager wouldn’t love a cool spot to chill?
