This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Sensory materials provide students with hands-on materials to develop and enhance language skills. Language skills are interwoven into every academic subject area. Without language comprehension skills students struggle with mathematics, science, and language concepts. Being able to manipulate objects develops enhanced concrete comprehension of concepts which creates a foundation for the understanding of abstract reasoning skills later on. Engineering skills are addressed through the movement of objects, science skills are observed through gravity, speed, angles, etc. and language skills are absorbed through play in exhaustive vocabulary tasks. Students will be able to maneuver parts, build objects (Glow Fort Building Kit), and observe motions (Bubble Fish LED Light) through the utilization of this project’s materials. Sensory resources are vital to the development of language.
