Sensory Seating for Special Education Students Focus!
Help me give my students seating that will meet their sensory needs! Many students need seats that allow them to wiggle to have stronger focus on their work.
My classroom is a junior high extended resource room for 13 eager and enthusiastic special education 7th graders! The students have moderate to severe disabilities such as down syndrome, autism, and intellectual disabilities and are working on a wide range of academic and social skills.
My students take brave chances every day to get out of their comfort zone and learn, and are truly the sweetest and down to earth kids I have ever met.
My classroom prides itself on building a strong sense of community and a safe place for students to explore their learning. As a first year teacher, I am eager to get my students the best resources to guide them towards success. We love to have fun and support each other, and we all would love the chance to get to enhance our learning opportunities!
My Project
Many of my students have sensory needs that may impact their learning if not given a resource to help. These stools are meant for teenagers, so they are an age appropriate way to get those wiggles out to better focus. I have seen first hand how effective these seats can be for junior high students with disabilities, and I would love to implement this into my new classroom.
These stools will allow my students to better focus on the task, rather than their sensory needs.
This will allow my students to be most successful in their goals, and make them feel more comfortable and calm while learning new ideas.
