Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Can you imagine if you did not have enough vocabulary in order to communicate your wants and needs? My speech and language students have difficulties with vocabulary and verbal expression. They have difficulties understanding and using vocabulary. This impacts their ability to succeed in their academic classroom and socialize with their peers. My students are enrolled in a speech and language program in a public elementary school.

My Project

I am a Speech-Language Pathologist in an elementary school. I have found that a majority of my students get over-whelmed during class time possibly due to sensory overload.

So when they can come into my room and relax on the carpet and chairs, I can provide sensory integration techniques to desensitize them as well as provide speech therapy.

Hopefully, this will help them to be able to carry over and generalize their behavior into the classroom and increase attention and academics. Please help me support my students in their learning process.
