Sensory Saviors

Help me give my students tools to support self regulation skills! A trampoline to let off excess energy, lap pads and chair bands to stay in one's seat, quiet fidgets to occupy hands. All will help their young minds grow!

My Project

Sometimes you just need a little help being ready to learn! There is a lot out there to distract young (and old!) minds, but there are also many tools available to help. The sensory tools in this DonorsChoose.org may not be in anyone's standard curriculum or have a budget line, but they are just what some kids need to be able to access instruction.

Whether you need a minute of jumping on the trampoline to get out some big energy or to soothe your worries away with a quiet fidget, our Lion's Den will have something to help every kid be ready to learn!

In this project, we've asked for a variety of tools that students can use and reuse as they work to develop habits of mind to keep them focused and engaged. Lap pillows and chair bands help center wiggly bodies, while fidgets and sensory stickers give busy or anxious hands a quiet task so brains can learn. Sand timers help students track movement or brain breaks and the trampoline will help release big energy in a small space.
