Sensory Sandbox

My Project

My students love playing in the sand for sensory purposes. In our classroom, many students have autism and other emotional disorders that increase their needs for sensory items. They have been playing in a small amount of sand inside a plastic tote for years. This year, they have been asking for an actual sandbox. None of them has one at home, and they have loved the experience with the small bin we have in the classroom. This sandbox would be able to provide sensory experiences that they haven't had as children. This would be something that creates moments that not only help them regulate, but would create memories that every child deserves.
