My Project

A sensory room is a specially designed space that provides individuals with a controlled and immersive sensory experience. These rooms are not only used for relaxation and stress relief, but also as therapeutic tools for various sensory processing disorders, disabilities, and cognitive conditions, including autism spectrum disorder. As a school-based physical therapist with DCPS, many of the students that I work with struggle to articulate their feelings due to their disabilities, making it challenging for them to express what they are experiencing.

A sensory room would provide a safe and calming space where they can engage with various sensory tools and activities that can help them process and alleviate their emotional overload, ultimately supporting their emotional well-being and enhancing their ability to focus on learning.

I am confident that this resource will greatly benefit the students, providing them the support they need to thrive. Thank you in advance for your support!
