This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I work with preschool children ages 3-5 who have a variety of special needs. I am a speech language pathologist and lead 10 classes each week with a special education teacher and teacher of the deaf. We would love to open up a sensory corner within our classroom for the children to explore different textures, use various tools with different grasps and learn preacademic skills such as sorting like items, increasing language skills such as labeling items and describing their experience. Some of our children are motivated by different textures and this encourages them to engage more using sounds, words and movements while others are sensitive to sensory input and this will allow them to explore.
