This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a new occupational therapist in this school system, I have the opportunity to work with some of the most curious, energetic, and playful students. Many of them are sensory seekers — always on the move, looking for something exciting to explore! Through play, we’re working on helping them process sensory input and build essential fine motor skills.
My students light up when they see something new to play with, and I light up because that "fun" is secretly helping them grow.
The games I’m requesting will not only keep them engaged, but they’ll also challenge their sensory processing and motor skills in ways that feel like play.
In addition, visuals schedule and reward charts can play a big role in helping them transition from one activity to another. With a laminator, I can create sturdy, reusable visual cues that guide my students through their day in a way that’s easy for them to understand and follow.
