Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have an amazing group of kindergartners. My class is a mix of both English learners and English proficient students. My students are eager learners and they have a positive attitude for learning.
Our school is a Title I school which services primarily immigrant and working-class families.
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused interruption to the lives of many including my students. All parents and teachers have tried their best to provide the best environment for our students. I want to support my students with fun and engaging ways to learn as they return back to school.
My Project
Young children learn through play. The miniature toys will be used with the kinetic sand during center rotations to create a space for my students to make believe play with the environment for construction, ocean, space, fairyland, forest, and farm life. Having the opportunity to be creative in making their own story will help my students express their thoughts and ideas using the English language.
Other than learning to play and share with peers in small groups, students will be developing communication skills as they interact with one another in make believe play.
