My Project

Sensory learning is critical in the early childhood classroom. Sensory experiences help children talk about what they are creating, addresses their fine motor skills, and gives them chances to problem solve all while they are socially interacting with their peers. Sensory experiences also contribute to developing an awareness through hands-on learning and each child's senses.

Sensory play introduces the use of the "scientific method" of observing, forming a hypothesis, experimenting, and making conclusions while children explore and play.

Sensory play also contributes to their love and interest in math and science.

Now more than ever, children need opportunities to participate in purposeful play-based learning that is highly engaging. Through the use of trinket and sensory trays, children will have additional opportunities to engage in creative play across various centers but at one of their favorites, the sensory table! The bee hive and pot will inspire our play as we learn about the pollinators this Spring! These tools including the trays will create opportunities to engage in sharing and turn taking as well as build their fine motor and math skills as they scoop, pour, measure, and mix! Sensory activities are not only fun and interesting but encourage children to explore and investigate and these materials will contribute to additional opportunities for sensory play beyond the sensory table as they engage in the world around them.
