it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Sensory play is fundamental for early learners, especially those who are atypical learners on the autism spectrum. Play-Doh is an excellent resource that helps students sit, focus and learn.
The students in my classroom are very young learners who present as atypical learners on the autism spectrum.
It is much easier for my students to learn if they have access to resources that capture their interest and imagination. Play-Doh is one of those resources that help my students do just that. I have used it as part of my program for many years and it is one of the preferred resources of all my students.
My Project
Play-Doh serves many purposes in my classroom. It is an integral part of our handwriting program. We use Play-Doh prior to writing to increase fine-motor strength and coordination. It also has a calming effect on my students and helps decrease impulsive behaviors. When the students' activity level is heightened, if they are given sensory materials such as Play-Doh, they calm quickly and are ready for the next academic activity. Sensory play helps to increasing positive social such as verbal exchanges and sharing.
My students are extremely bright and talented.
Play-Doh is one of the resources that has helped my students increase skills in many developmental domains. Your donation will go a long way in improving academic, social and self-help skills.
