Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We focus on building a strong community where students feel comfortable taking risks. When student feel comfortable they are able to learn to their greatest potential. Students value each others' opinion. They provide each other with support and help teach one another. If they understand something - they enjoy teaching, to help their friend pass their target. Students help keep each other on task and support each other's differences. Students demonstrate leadership within their reading groups, table groups, and during Kagan Structures.

Developing a strong foundation for my students to continue to build on the rest of their life is my top priority.

Many of my students are English Language learns, developing a strong academic vocabulary is especially important. Students are engaged in their learning activities and record their progress in their data binders. Students are aware of what they need to accomplish to master their targets. They know what targets they have mastered and what targets they are currently working on or are close to mastering.

My Project

Children learn best and retain the most information when they engage their sense. Providing opportunities for children to actively use their senses as they explore their world around them is crucial for brain development. Sensory play is important for all children to help build language and develop fine motor skills.

Sensory activities, encourage children to explore and investigate.

Furthermore, these activities support children to use the ‘scientific method’ of observing, forming a hypothesis, experimenting and making conclusions. Sensory activities can involve mindful activities which are beneficial for all children. Sensory play supports language development, cognitive growth, motor skills, problem solving skills, and social interaction.
