I have an amazing group of students that I am so thankful to call mine. We spend each day finding new and creative ways to learn and explore. They are curious and always excited to experience new things on our journey together.
I am honored to teach students on the autism spectrum.
They encourage me to be the best teacher I can be.
My Project
Do you ever need a moment to just stretch your legs? Sometimes students need to move their bodies or get their sensory needs met before they can learn effectively. I want to allow all students the opportunity to use movement and physical activity as a tool to release built-up energy in order to increase their focus as well as increase their motor coordination.
Research shows that sensory play and activities can help develop important skills such as gross and fine motor, language development, increased retention of information, body awareness, balance, and spatial orientation.
This amazing sensory path could be utilized by all students during transitions, inclement weather, or as movement breaks for those needing sensory stimulation throughout the day. The sensory path would include movement and learning in the form of activities such as skipping, hopping, and jumping as well as encouraging students to follow directions and take turns.
