I have 6 awesome students in 3rd-4th grade. My class is one of three classes in our district for students with autism. We love learning! My students are visual, hands-on learners who deserve the best academic experience possible!
We spend our days learning about academic subjects, social skills, and we all mainstream into general education classes to further our social skills and make new friends.
Our school was the 36th school, internationally, to receive STEM certification and we are a STEAM school.
My Project
This sensory path will not only help my students and the other two Autism classrooms, but will be available to be utilized by our entire school! That is over 800 students that can benefit from having a sensory path, which is a great way for kids to develop motor skills like balance, hand-eye coordination, and spatial awareness, and to just get out the wiggles while trying to learn. Our sensory path will consist of a crab crawl set, hopscotch, and a wall push up set. The path can also be utilized for OT and PT who work with children to improve movement and everyday daily living activities.
