Sensory Path and Tools for Students' Sensory Regulation
Help me give my students understandable pictures, signs and symbols that guide them to engage in sensory movements to help them self-regulate for learning!
School are environments full of different kinds of sensory input. Sometimes kids' bodies get the types of sensory input they need to learn best within their regular classroom, and sometimes they do not. Some kids have a need for more input and some have less. Some times of day or situations create the need for kids to move or use their bodies differently so they can be regulated and access their education.
I want to create a sensory path in the hallway at school so that students have a specific place to go that shows specific exercises and movements to provide sensory input to their central nervous systems.
These movements include hopping, balancing, crawling, stretching, pushing, and spinning to stimulate or to calm their brains and nervous systems. These calming or stimulating movements help students be in the best state for effective learning. The chewy necklaces are tools for students to use to gain deep pressure to their jaws which can be calming and allow them to better focus their brains for learning.
