Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This is the first year this level of support has been offered at our school, and as a result, we are seeking support to obtain sensory items for our students. Going to a new school as well as adjusting to this new environment presents significant challenges for our students with Autism, and these sensory items will enable us to provide learning opportunities for students to self-regulate their needs and support their overall ability to grow and learn. With the items in this support package, we hope to provide tactile input for our students as well as give our students resources to adjust to sensory difficulties in a school-based setting. This includes providing headphones for our students in an environment such as the cafeteria. Overall, these items will go directly to our Autistic support classroom to allow these students to learn to be independent self-regulators and therefore have the sensory ability to access their educational opportunities.
