Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My exceptional learners, many of whom have the Autism diagnosis or have recently immigrated here and have experienced trauma of some sort, love to move, touch and feel things, but also struggle with sensory motor and self-regulation skills. They require structured, regulated input, but this needs to be presented in an appealing way! They are children, learning and growing should be fun, so the tools in this wishlist are therapeutic tools to promote growth in my students.
The weighted lap pads and Bumble Bee Sensory Vibrating Pillow will provide deep pressure that many of my students often seek out due to their sensory processing difficulties, and they prefer deep pressure but without human contact.
Many of my students also crave tactile input. The Sensory Wall Sequin Flip Fabric and Squishy Sensory Toys will provide tactile input in an appropriate, engaging manner. I will include these items in my Calming corner and help students to use them appropriately when needed.
The National Geographic Stepping Stones and 5 Piece Stepping Stone Kit will be a great addition to th Sensory Circuits I am preparing to implement in order to help my students continue develop their sensory motor skills, including their balance, coordination, social skills, and all this safely on these non slip and durable tools. The Sensory Circuits will help students be ready to learn.
