My Project
I use putty, weaving, pinwheels and, scarves to teach regulation skills to special education students. I teach students how to use putty as a tool to help them focus and to ease frustration. How do you teach students to breathe deeply? By constructing and blowing on a pinwheel of course. How do you teach meditation? By practicing weaving on a foam loom. Need to activate your right and left brain? Let's jam to 60's music while tossing scarves and crisscrossing them back and forth around our bodies.
My students on the spectrum love to complete puzzles while sharing in the counseling setting.
Having a meltdown? Let's place a cooling pack over our eyes or forehead. We need snacks because they make everything better.
