My Students
My students go to school at a Title I school in Tacoma, WA. They are students with various disabilities that require social and academic supports throughout the day. I support around 30 different students throughout a school day with small group instruction, social and emotional groups and one on one instruction.
Even though these students need certain supports throughout the day, they are not defined by their disabilities.
They are strong, hard working students who push through different obstacles from home to school life.
My Project
Sometimes our students just need to wiggle and they cannot move from their seats! Our foot bands allows them to move their feet without distracting their peers and educators! The bands can be used either in the special education classroom or a general education classroom!
They may also want to attend assemblies or field trips, but they are very sound sensitive.
The noise cancelling headphones allow them to enjoy noisy activities along with their peers. Along with the headphones, some of our students are nonverbal. The communication cards allows our students to communicate with their educators and peers their emotions and needs!
