My students need magnetic letters because they still struggle with phonemic awareness and phonics. This will help with sensory learning and provide a visual with words as they build their spelling words.

My Students
My students are great and lovable students. They come from a high poverty area with little parental support. We are a 100% free lunch school. As a teacher, I am there momma, daddy, friend, role model, and support system. I wear many hats in class, but the most important is these students have a chance to succeed in life, they are smart and they love to learn.
They are respectful and have a desire to learn all they can within the classroom.
They ask questions and have wonderful conversations between each other.
My Project
The use of magnetic letters would be a daily activity in my classroom, especially during word study. . Using magnetic letters during word study , students would build words for guided practice and to record modeled strategies. This would allow allow me to see exactly what they are doing, as well as provide an easy place for them to show and share their work. What becomes a problem is the fact that the markers never seem to last, erasers seem to disappear, and the whiteboards slowly become stained from frequent use.
