Help me give my students ways to learn using kinetic learning by having feel and find sensory tubs, learn to count and learn the alphabet dough mats, and using touch and read board books to help reading.
The students at my school are amazing learners! They are eager to do their best and to try hard at school. Many of my students have sensory needs that affect their ability to concentrate and achieve their highest at school. These needs make them special and unique, and people love them even more for it!
Many students in my classroom come from lower-income homes.
This doesn't limit their potential! This only means that they try a little harder and come so much farther.
My Project
The students in my classroom come from diverse backgrounds. Many have learning disabilities, health impairments, and autism. With so many different learning styles, I want to diversify the way I teach to help match how my students learn. By having and incorporating sensory items into my classroom, I can help more students achieve higher than by more traditional teaching methods.
Reaching students with autism sometimes involves thinking outside of the box.
Research has shown that these students respond well to multi-sensory experiences. To be able to do this, I need hands-on learning items such as sensory boards, play dough mats to help with counting and letter formation, and sensory board books to help with early phonics acquisition.
