I teach students in a low incidence classroom, serving students in grades Kindergarten through third. My students are a diverse group of learners with many complex needs. I teach main subjects, including reading, math, writing, science and social studies as well as communication, daily living, social, accessibility, and behavior skills. Many of my students have been with me for multiple years, allowing me ample time to get to know their individual learning needs.
My students are an incredible group of kids who amaze me each and every day.
They overcome countless obstacles and continue to persevere. My students are part of an extremely supportive and inclusive school, which supports and treats our students with the upmost respect. The administration, staff, and students at Ashley River make my class feel like they are truly part of the community, regardless of their differences.
My Project
The materials I am hoping to get for my class will help with their sensory needs. These items will help my students focus on their daily tasks. My learners battle many challenges in their daily lives and everyday activities can be very difficult for them. Focusing is one difficulty they face almost consistently. Classroom dividers will help with visual distractions, headphones help with noise distractions, and chewy's help with oral motor input.
