My Students
I teach six Pre-Kindergarten students with autism. They are a group of energetic, excited, and bright young learners. They love coming to school and experiencing success in an environment suited to their needs.
Unfortunately, our school and district are unable to provide my classroom with all of the supplies that I need to help my students be successful.
My students do not fit into a certain curriculum and most are still "learning how to learn." Their abilities span a wide range, so having all of the necessary materials to meet their specific goals is difficult. This project will help me provide engaging instruction to reach all of my students.
My Project
My students have autism and need a lot of sensory input to help them regulate their bodies. As three-, four-, and five-year olds, they are still learning how to do that themselves. Sensory items such as bubble lights, tactile lights, and swings will help their bodies to regulate as well as provide fun opportunities for communication, engagement, and play in the classroom...all skills on which we are also working!
Kids these days are very motivated by technology.
