At CPJH in The Woodlands, our 6th through 8th grade PALS Self-Contained classroom serves students with diverse needs who require tailored support to thrive in their educational journey. Our classroom emphasizes the importance of life skills development, equipping students with the tools they need to navigate everyday challenges and enhance their independence. To facilitate this, we aim to incorporate various sensory items that can significantly enrich our students' learning experiences.
Sensory items are essential in providing calming and engaging opportunities for students with sensory processing challenges.
Currently, our classroom lacks the resources necessary to create an inviting sensory-rich environment that promotes focus, emotional regulation, and engagement. By acquiring crash pads, weighted items, and fidget tools, we can create designated sensory areas that cater to our students’ unique needs. These items will help students self-regulate, reduce anxiety, and improve their ability to participate in group activities and instruction.
