My Project

I am blessed to have the opportunity to work with special needs children, ages 3-5 who are diagnosed with autism or developmental delays. Some of my students are verbal while others are not, and we have a wide range of physical abilities within our room. One of my favorite things about working with children at this age is watching them learn through play. From building things to playing pretend/dress up and everything in between, preschool students learn through their experiences, and it is a joy to be able to teach them during such a fun time in their lives! Many of our students require sensory stimulation throughout the day to help them process their world around them, such as running, jumping, flapping hands, kicking feet/legs, bouncing, rolling, squeezes/hugs, etc. Our students focus best after being given the opportunity to seek whatever stimulation needed to help calm their nervous system.

If funded, this project will allow our students to use these oral stimulation sensory chews and noise reducing headphones to help calm their bodies and allow them to focus their attention and energy on classroom participation and engagement.
