My Students
I teach in a functional skills classroom in a Title I school. My students range from K-sixth. This year I have students that are in grades K, first, third, fifth, and sixth. Most of my students have some kind of disability but work hard to reach their goals.
They struggle most days with different tasks but continue to make progress no matter how hard things get.
My Project
Our classroom is Kindergarten through Sixth grade. We have 11 kids all on different learning levels. We have several Autistic kids who love to fidget. When they have something to focus on behaviors are ideal, concentration is key. Having a variety of toys and fidgets would help in our classroom when we are teaching several different lessons at a time. A child could be increasing their dexterity and hand-eye coordination while we are working one-to-one with another student. To maintain a positive learning environment we could also use them as positive reinforcement.
