Sensory Integration

My students need bean bag chairs for individual movement during read to self, a hanging chair for sensory integration, and lap pads.

My Students

Every morning we start over and try to be better than the day before. We learn social skills, emotional regulation, along with general academics.

My students are great kids that are often misunderstood.

They are students with emotional disturbances. They can be wonderful learners and people, but at this time in their lives, they struggle to control their emotions. All of my students have disabilities that are hard to see but still affect them. Many of my students have ADHD, which makes them wiggly and impulsive, but they still want to learn and grow. It's just very hard for them to sit quietly in classes. Unfortunately, they also have trouble regulating their feelings, which can push people away. But these students are crying out for attention, love, and acceptance. Some of my students come from troubled homes and that adds to their emotional problems. We are in a school district that has been struggling for the past few years financially and our parents/students are economically challenged.

My Project

My students need these sensory items so they can sit and learn while still being able to move without disrupting other students. Many of my students also have additional sensory issues. These items will not only be used by my students but I will also share with other students within my building that also have sensory integration issues. These resources will benefit many students that have sensory integration issues, emotional disturbances, and social skills deficits.

These donations will allow my students to have the necessary sensory fulfillment, movement, and social skills to be able to learn.

The donations will help my students be able to integrate back into the general education classroom with their peers. My classroom, students, and building will benefit from these sensory items by helping them get the movement they need while still learning.
