Sensory Input Outside!! Little Friends Need Equipment to Learn

My students need outdoor equipment to expand their play! Balls, Rockets, Push and Pull toys, and a Balance Beam can motivate a student to speak through play.

My Students

My classroom has a wide range of sweet students. We work with students who are non-verbal and students who require assistance to reach their full potential. Many of the students are on the autism spectrum and require a lot of communication and social support along with self help skills.

These students deserve all the help they can get.

The students in the structured preschool classroom are receiving services at a young age so that they are able to make growth and become a more independent person. We have been able to see so many of our students go from a non-verbal students stuck in their own world to a student who develops friendships and can use full sentences to express and request their needs.

My Project

I have been a teacher for 13 years and the playground equipment remains the same. The material I am requesting is for my students with Autism to have more options and more exciting equipment to play with outside. Many times our students need a lot of motivation to communicate, and what is a more motivating than outside having fun. For most students recess is a break, but for our prek students with special needs outside is a time to get sensory input while being pushed to talk.

Sometimes students talk for the first time outside while doing what they love.

The materials I am requesting are not only to push our students to talk through being motivated but to also work on their large and small motor skills, taking turns with their peers, and to explore the world through their senses.
