I teach special education at a focus school in Germantown, MD. A focus school means that families in our area are a low income population. My school is about 20% special needs, and I service students in Kindergarten, Second and Third grade. I work hard to find new and different approaches for my students who learn in so many different ways. My students have many various social, emotional and academic needs, and the staff at our school are committed to helping our students reach their full potential.
These students are creative, caring and always eager to learn and grow!
My Project
I teach students with varying special needs in Kindergarten, Second and Third grade. My goal is to create a classroom environment that is a sensory experience where students can learn, decompress and enjoy the learning process in a way that works best for them.
With items like a sensory table, kinetic sand, and water beads my students will have access to an engaging activity where they can work their motor skills, take a break from their work, and develop social skills by interacting with their peers in a positive way.
Many of my students have disabilities such as ADHD, Autism, Developmental Delay and Dyslexia. These materials will allow for my students to have hands on learning and flexible seating that will keep them comfortable and engaged!
