Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
A typical day in my kindergarten classroom involves movement, dancing, singing, and many group activities. We do many centers in our room where students are given a lot of free choices to match their learning style.
Our school is student-focused, yet lacks resources.
It is a very upbeat and happy environment. These five and six-year-olds want to be engaged in learning social, emotional, and academic skills. In order to help facilitate my students' learning, we need fine motor and sensory activities. Students need efficient fine motor skills are the most important in order to aid in their handwriting and writing skills. Sensory activities would allow my kindergarteners to explore their senses in order to create and investigate.
My Project
The fine motor and sensory activities would be used daily in my classroom. Students would get to use the materials to aid in mastering the academic skills such as number correspondence, letter recognition, handwriting, and writing skills. Students come in to my kindergarten classroom with a broad range of skills, abilities, and experiences.
These activities would allow them to explore, learn, and create with their senses, which is crucial in their development.
Sensory play allows the brain to build nerve connections in the brain's pathways. Fine motor skills are crucial in order to develop proper handwriting skills, writing skills, as well as everyday tasks such as buttoning and zipping. These fine motor activities would be used daily to develop dexterity and strength in a fun way.
