As a teacher in a Special Education Title 1 school in Brooklyn, NY the students I work with come from so many different walks of life. Providing my students with a safe space for them to learn and excel is so very important. Please help support my middle school special needs students by providing them with the additional items we need to make them the sensory gym of their dreams! Sensory input and output is crucial in the day to day life of not only my students but all students. Our school does not have a proper sensory gym with the tools our students truly need to succeed. Flexible seating items like a swing and a rocking chair will help our students find a comfortable place that works best for their learning style. The use of multisensory lighting will provide our young learners with the opportunity to develop more appropriate hand eye coordination, tracking skills, and give them the opportunity to experience a low stimulation and stress free environment. Therefore, I am hoping that this project will supply our school with a great start in providing our students with a sensory-filled future.
