This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The requested Sensory items will truly benefit my special needs Students with Autism in all areas of learning and self regulating. My students with Autism are in need of a designated area for calming and self soothing when the daily school stressors can take a toll on their focus, moods, and learning engagement. Having a "Calming Area" in the classroom can give students a sense of comfort and relief, familiarity, and reassurance that the necessary coping materials can be accessible to them as needed.

My students are noticeably more at ease and prepared for their academic learning activities as well as less disruptive of their peers when given a "Calming down" area with appropriate sensory materials at arm's reach to self regulate.

My students will be able to simply focus on their academic tasks and feel confidant that if needed a sensory break can seek the "Calming down" area with the hands on sensory items for self soothing.

The tangibles that I have selected will assist my Special needs students' sensory and frustration levels in the classroom. The comfy beanbag chairs will allow students for additional comfortable carpet seating and resting options.
