My Project
Learning is active: little bodies need to use their eyes, hands, legs, brains, and hearts to be fully engaged. Particularly in our class with high-support needs, we know that offering a variety of sensory materials - things we can observe, ask questions about, and actively manipulate - gives students an opportunity to participate in holistic moments of learning.
Our wish list was specifically curated to include things that have flexible uses: the sand is great for mathematics (like volume and weight) and practicing pre-literacy (think writing names and digging for letters), the parachute gives us the chance to work together and take turns, geoboards are excellent for shape creation and identification (and fine motor skills!), the ramps are incredible for physics and cause and effect, and the magnet board gives us a new medium for writing, reading, and art.
The visual timer is an important tool for helping our preschoolers co-regulate and easily anticipate transitions.
These sturdy, reusable materials will last us through years of explorations: we’ll be able to flex our bodies and our brains as we pursue wonder, joy, and knowledge! We’re so grateful for your support.
