Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Many of my students have sensory needs related to their disability and anxiety. Part of being a special education teacher is teaching my students strategies in order to address their sensory/anxiety needs independently. Throughout the year we introduce students to different strategies/tools that they can use and by the end of the year my students are able to self soothe with the strategies that they have been taught. Another part of being a special education teacher is teaching my students to persevere even one tasks are difficult for them. I teach my students 3 simple rules. To be respectful, to be focused and always try their best. As students work through their sessions with me students earn stars to cash in for prizes. This project will help provide prizes for my students and sensory materials that they need to succeed in school.
